Welcome RD!
RD is a vibrant young man with an array of likes, interests and goals for his life. R has a diagnosis of Autism, LD and Mental Health needs requiring consistent support and reassurance. R has unfortunately experienced multiple failed placements in his life as was supported in a residential provision for several years before the placement broke down. After residing with his mum for some time after this, R moved into supported living accommodation where he lived for 2 years before this placement also broke down in light of R’s complex needs and the Coronavirus Pandemic. By the end of 2021, it was evident that R required continuous specialist support with purposely developed accommodation to meet his needs. R is a complex young man and his presentation can change rapidly, resulting in risk to both himself and others. In light of this, R’s care at home broke down and he was detained in hospital for a prolonged period of time.
R was referred to IBC Healthcare several times over the course of a year, but unfortunately iBC were in the very early stages of developing the specialist accommodation we offer today. With close communication and updates between iBC’s Referral Team and R’s funding authority, we were finally able to offer a large bespoke apartment within Anita Jane Lodge, Leicester at the end of 2022.

As a specialist Midlands provider, IBC feel passionately about individuals having a house they can call a home with access to specialist bespoke accommodation and support packages, no matter how complex their needs may be. Our focus is to deliver care models such as active support, intensive interaction and positive behavioural support, to empower people to live as in independently as possible free from unnecessary hospitalisation.

Ebony Staite says “I am so pleased we were finally able to offer the right support package and accommodation to R. I was aware of R’s urgent need for a new placement even before joining iBC Healthcare, when I liaised his referral in my previous employment nearly 2 years ago. When I was re-introduced to R’s case last Summer, shortly after joining iBC – it saddened me to know that things still hadn’t changed for him. I have been closely involved in the development of Anita Jane Lodge, so being part of this entire process and now seeing R fully supported in the community is a great feeling, I’m very happy for him.”
R’s apartment in Leicester is substantial in size, developed in line with Design By Autism and complete with high specification white goods, a large communal garden and a vast selection of community amenities for R to choose from.
In the week following R’s move he settled very well, expressing that he was looking forward to making his apartment his own and exploring the vibrant community of Leicester. A special thanks to Registered Manager of Supported Living Leicester, Liz Snow and her team – for going above and beyond in ensuring a smooth transition from a hospital placement, back into the community.
We are looking forward to supporting R to achieve real dreams and goals in his new home, Welcome R!
